What new technologies are going to find their way into your future car?

August 9, 2010 Features No Comments

In the mid-90s you were ahead of the trends if you owned a cell phone. You know, one of those large black bricks? Now nearly fifteen years later, the average consumer exchanges 10 plus texts a day, receives and places five phone calls, and checks the weather on their smartphone’s mobile internet as they please.

This technology trend has now moved from cell phones and portable computers to the automotive world. Carmarker’s are facing heavy competition to have the  newest technology features and high-tech gadgets standard in their lineups. Its been speculated that Milpitas new car drivers may see such features as Auto LinQ, Intelligent Tire System/ Fill Assist, Unique Profiles for drivers, Active Force Feedback Pedal and  Emergency Steer Assist in the near future.

For those Honda Milpitas shoppers who aren’t familiar with these high-tech abilities, lets talk about what makes the Steer Assist and Auto LinQ features to be desired. We all know the paranoia that overtakes your body the second you lose control of your vehicle and crashing seems inevitable. With the Emergency Steer Assist, drivers won’t have such fear. This system is built to “suggest the steering motion/direction” by varying the torque by direction rather than steering for you. After the incident subsides, the system works to stabilize the aftereffects of the swerve and help regain steering control of the vehicle.

Next on the list is Auto LinQ which seems to bring some competition to Apple. Hopefully in the next couple years, we’ll see Milpitas new car models come standard with this iPhone- like feature. It’s suggested this platform will allow drivers to access applications such as Pandora, Shazam and Navteq among many more, in the comfort of their own vehicle with quick tap to the navigation dashboard. Additionally, Auto LinQ has concerned itself with drivers’ safety. If introduced, Auto LinQ will read aloud texts, emails and rss feeds received by the driver to assure that full attention remains on the road.

The first automakers to take on these high-tech features will surely set the bar high for its competitors.

Its safe to say Honda Milpitas shoppers are hoping they can get their hands on these new gadgets in upcoming models. Until then, stop in to your local San Jose Honda dealer, Capitol Honda, to check out their newest lineup of cars and their great selection of pre-owned vehicles.
