New Honda CR-Z: Hybrid Promises More Bang For Your Buck

Lately, Honda has been struggling to keep up their once flawless sporting image.  But now with an unlikely hybrid sports coupe Honda is now looking regain some of that sporting prowess.  The Honda hybrid features a 6-speed manual gearbox which is a first for a hybrid drivetrain.  This sporty hybrid is going to be called the Honda CR-Z.

Back in 2007, the CR-Z concept debuted at the Tokyo Motor Show and it had car fanatics buzzing.  The production on the actual CR-Z is a little less than that of the original concept but the CR-Z still looks like no other car on the road.  The hybrid has a large fierce grill, wide headlights and a sculptured rear deck that gives the car a very sleek look on out on the road.  Many people will think of the CR-X of the early 80’s and see some resemblances but project leader Norio Tomobe says, “We were not aiming for a modern day CR-X. We wanted to create a totally new type of hybrid sports coupe that would take us into a more discerning and environmentally-conscious 21st century. The fact that’s it’s a hybrid just adds another intriguing dimension to the sporty mix. If it reminds you of the CR-X then that’s purely coincidental”.

The CR-Z is built on a wide Insight platform and is also very light.  The front seats are plenty spacious to accommodate tall drivers but the back seats are a little snug.  On the interior the CR-Z really shines.  The quality of work can be seen by anyone who even sits down in this coupe.  The dash is well laid out and very bright.  The CR-Z is well put together and really gives the driver an all-around excellent driving experience.  You will not want to stop driving this car.  Make sure to give this car a test drive when it hits the market.
